Having a sense of purpose gives us clear reasons for our actions. It could be a goal in life that makes us want to study, work, or develop well. This reason then becomes an inbred incentive concerning anything you choose to pursue.
People with a sense of purpose work hard because of a true interest in their goal, rather than because they have to. Having a clear purpose is the starting point for all achievement (Napoleon Hill) and that means if you allow any hesitation to slither into your mind, the purpose is threatened and could be lost. Without a clear purpose, people drift aimlessly through life.
Everyone has the privilege of being definite at birth but that doesn’t remain for long. Many lose this privilege by overlooking it, since unless it is adopted as a policy by which one is guided in all the affairs of life, it cannot be maintained.
Imitation, one of the basic ways by which we learn from the time we are just babes is also one way through which we end up assimilating behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes which being rooted in emotion, make us apathetic in life.
Antagonistic toward an intentional or purpose-driven life is a variety of instilled negative impulses of thought such as procrastination, fear, low self-esteem, doubt, uncertainty, and rarely love.
Love? You ask. Yes, love too.
Quoting Hill, “…love and fear are emotional forces of such stupendous potency that either may completely set aside the power of will and the power of reason.”
Love unchecked saps out reason just as fear maims willpower. Without will and reason, nothing’s left to support the intentionality of purpose.
Does it mean that definite-minded people harden their emotions? Not really, instead, they have control over their feelings. You can achieve freedom and self-determination by gaining power and control over yourself.
So what now, do you have a plan for purpose-driven living? The weak or strong plan will improve when definitely and continuously applied.
Nevertheless, the best of plans sometimes misfires, but the person who moves with definiteness of purpose recognizes the difference between temporary defeat and failure. When plans fail he substitutes others but he does not change his purpose. He perseveres. Eventually, he finds a plan that succeeds.
Learn the power of forming a definite plan followed by appropriate action, of repetition of thoughts, and a burning desire backed by faith, in realizing your dreams.
You can. You will.
